You’ve read the title and perhaps your feelings are a mixture of confusion, surprise, relief, you believe this to be some sort joke, or you simply just don’t care…
This is NOT a joke
In light of recent debates which took place across social media we issue this press release to make a public apology to anybody who took offence from the content published on this platform.
We don’t expect forgiveness from anybody within the ELT community, but we do hope that you will see this press release as an example of a business operating within ELT that is capable of changing its attitude towards native speakerism and learning from its mistakes. We are a relatively new platform within ELT and are learning every step of the way as we continue to grow. Your contributions are welcomed.
El Universo del Inglés does not promote native speakerism. We endeavour that any content issued on our platform in the future will not include topics or language which is prejudiced to different groups within the ELT community – this is not limited to ‘non-native-speaker’ teachers and also includes ‘native’ speaker teachers as well.
To reiterate, we are not expecting forgiveness (although, of course it is welcomed) and we know that our visitors may only ever consider forgiving us if these words are put into action and that you will base your beliefs on our actions and not just our words.
